This environmental jazz-blues hymn was originally the first song. It took the longest to get. Originally it had a very jazzy drum track played by Moray Crawford. Somehow we could never match the percussion with the song and tried many variations. The problem was that it was actually two separate songs and rhythms pulled together – an alternative rock and an early Jazz, almost Fats Waller kind of tune. At any rate, I hope the Lovely Lady Blue appreciates this ode to her and her golden locks, and inspires others to appreciate her.
Moray Crawford: Udu, cymbals
Maryse Dumas: Flutes
John Hulaton: Trumpet
Roman Rhodes: Guitar, Vocals, Piano
Mark Williams: Bass
• Kentarow: Bass on final 8 bar flute solo.

Lovely Lonely Blue
© Roman Rhodes, 2014
1.
Lovely, Lonely Lady Blue,
What have we done to you,
Spinning alone in the endless sky?
Like an azure-emerald jewel,
Floating in an endless pool
Of cold, cold black night. Aye, aye, aye.

Warmed by the golden sun,
You give life to everyone;
You are our home, hearth, breath and bread, Lady Blue.
Held by your loving gravitas,
How has it come to pass
That we abuse you so, Lady Blue?
2.
Balanced between the sun’s fire
And cold space, this sapphire,
Is all we are and have ever been.
You give us our daily bread,
There is nowhere we can go instead,
At least not now, my Lady Blue.

Golden threads of golden light,
You wear as your hair this endless night.
You’re the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen.
This blue and lonely rock
Is the true Goldilocks,
Not too cold, and not too hot, ah my Lady Blue.

Warmed by the golden sun,
You give life to everyone;
You are our home, hearth, breath and bread, Lady Blue.
To rape and kill what gives us life,
Is the dumbest of double-edged knives.
In shame and love I apologize, Lady Blue.
