This smoky, jazzy title song was a little too dark to start of the album with. But nicely balanced with the light-filled Gleam, it describes the ecological motivation of the album. Maryse nailed the sax and we decided to keep it simple. The music moves the soul, I hope it moves some minds.

Beauty Blues
© Roman Rhodes 2016

In case you haven’t heard the news,
Well I’ve got the beauty blues!
Forest Green and waters blue
Are all beneath the greed black boot.
Everything that feeds and shoes
Is being turned to dust dead soot.
White lab coats and dark grey suits
Are digging up the very roots
Of life and love, and all we need
Is sacrificed for their greed.
The millions starve, the millions bleed.
Still they sow the final seeds
Of a war that all will only lose,
They plan the spark and light the fuse
Goodbye all we loved and knew.
That’s why I got the beauty blues!
